YASUKO AMANO
Director of TOKYO HOME PIANO LESSONS
Yasuko Amano, founder of Tokyo Home Piano Lessons holds a Master's Degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma, a pioneer school for Piano Pedagogy and one of the most renowned in the world.
At Clavier-Werke School of Music in Austin Texas, Yasuko taught piano lessons, and created her own programs and held multiple crucial roles as Director of Group Piano Programs, Director of Adult Student Programs and Director of Ensemble Programs until 2016.
She was an active member of the piano pedagogy scene in the area, chaired numerous festivals and adjudicated many competitions. Her students have won prizes in many contests, and Yasuko was was a nominee for the Teacher of the Year Award in Austin in 2016.
Yasuko is a resident of Tokyo, Japan where she serves international communities.

Dr. Joshua Straub
Director of Online Programs

Dr. Joshua Straub is currently a resident of Austin, Texas and a co-owner of Studio A. He is the director of our online workshops and will be adjudicating online festivals. He has presented at many state, regional, national, and international conferences including Music Teachers National Association, the most renown association in America.
As an extension of his interest in the potential impact of music education, he co-wrote a paper with cognitive neuroscientist Dr. Kirsten Smayda and Dr. Ruby Chou detailing many of the benefits of learning piano in a group setting. This paper, published as part of the Australasian Piano Pedagogy Conference Proceedings, is the result of a ten-week group piano course for older adults aiming to scientifically test the ability for music to impact the brain.
Recently, Joshua began composing and producing music and his collaborations with photographer Ryan Deboodt have been featured by National Geographic and reached over a million people.
In addition to his commitment to the traditional Western canon, Joshua also frequently performs and commissions works by living composers, and he is a former faculty member at Concordia University and University of Texas- Austin.
